Hessen’s economic development agency and the French Chamber of Commerce in Germany agree cooperation
The strategic partnership aims to further strengthen Hessen’s position as a business location.
September 19, 2023, saw the signing in Frankfurt of a cooperation agreement between Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH (HTAI) and CCI France Allemagne CCFA e.V. (CCI), the French Chamber of Commerce in Germany. The two partners, who were represented by HTAI’s CEO Rainer Waldschmidt and CCI’s managing director Frédéric Berner, agreed an ongoing, in-depth cooperation. CCI France Allemagne and Hessen Trade & Invest share an interest in deepening their economic development cooperation, and in particular in strengthening Hessen’s position as an attractive location for French organizations to invest and work in.
Regular contacts are planned to enhance this cooperation even further. Trade relations between Hessen and France are already extremely close. France is the largest recipient of exports from Hessen within the EU, and the fourth most important source of imports for the state. In addition, French companies are among the largest investors in Hessen. Roughly 500 companies in Hessen have a majority investor domiciled in France.
Dr Rainer Waldschmidt: “We are aiming for a strategic partnership with CCI that will allow both sides to pool and leverage our skills and networks. We will assist French companies that are already established in Hessen in continuing their development, and will jointly support new ones with location and partnership projects so as to help them achieve market success.”
CCI France Allemagne, which has operated a business center in Frankfurt am Main since 1986, provides support for French organizations wishing to establish business relationships in Germany. More than 1,700 location projects were launched throughout Germany in the last 40 years, 263 of them in Hessen. At present, 51 branches of French companies are located at CCI in Frankfurt.
The cooperation agreement marks an important step towards a partnership that benefits both organizations. The signing ceremony was followed by the opening of new offices in “Le Booster Francfort”, CCI’s business center in Frankfurt.
