French company sets up ground-breaking textile-to-textile hub in Frankfurt
Pioneering textile regeneration company RejuTM to create innovative, large-scale circular textile solutions at inaugural hub in Hessen.
RejuTM has opened its Regeneration Hub Zero in Frankfurt, marking the young company’s first major milestone in its mission to lessen global textile waste. The hub will leverage proprietary technology to transform polyester waste into recycled polyester. The carbon footprint of RejuTM Polyester is estimated to be 50% lower than that of virgin polyester . First recycled polyester will be produced in 2025.
The new Regeneration Hub Zero in Frankfurt will focus on scaling the company’s new circular system and infrastructure for recovering, regenerating, and recirculating textile waste, comprised of polyester. The end product – RejuTM Polyester – will ensure textile-to-textile traceability from textile waste that would otherwise be buried, burned, or dumped. The goal is to bring a product to market that can be regenerated infinitely.
RejuTM, owned by global engineering leader Technip Energies, built the hub in record time. RejuTM intends to expand rapidly by combining its growing textile to textile recycling expertise with its parent company’s over 65 years of experience in building and commissioning plants. RejuTM is also working with upstream suppliers to recover and sort textiles to create a new circular textile system that does not yet exist.
Some 105 million tons of textile waste are produced annually, but less than 1% is recycled. RejuTM wants to change that by building and scaling the necessary infrastructure and technology to enable change in the textile industry.
Germany Trade & Invest, Hessen Trade & Invest, and the Hessen Ministry of Economic Affairs, Energy, Transportation, Housing and Rural Areas have actively supported this project. Germany and the state of Hessen welcome Reju‘sTM arrival, which adds to the growing network of innovative companies in the region contributing to sustainability and economic growth.
