Volkswagen invests EUR 1.2 Bil. in its Bauntal/Kassel EV component plant
The worlds second largest car manufacturer announced the expansion of its key component plant in Northern Hessen.
With 16,000 employees and 18 production lines, the plant is already VWs biggest key component supplier for the vehicle assembly of the VW and Audi brands.
Since 2015, Bauntal/Kassel has also been the brand's competence center for electric drive systems and manufactured 1.7 Mio. EV drive trains for the European and North American markets. The investment will double the manufacturing capacity by 2026 and position Hessen as a leading hub for the implementation of Volkswagen Group´s EV strategy.
